Pilsen Region-numbers and facts
The Pilsen region is located in the southwest of the Czech Republic. It borders the Karlovy Vary Region in the northwest, the Ústí Region in the north, the Central Bohemian Region in the northeast and the South Bohemian Region in the southeast. The longest border is with Germany (Bavaria) in the southwest.
Due to its area of 7561m the Pilsen Region is the third largest region in the Czech Republic. It is in the 9th place with its population of 550,000, which forms about 5.4% of the overall number of the Czech Republic’s population.
The Pilsen Region- the Region of Opportunities
The Pilsen region has a rich history as well as the present.
Since the dim and distant past, various cultures have mixed there and various nations have met there. Our ancestors gradually created the heritage perceptible all over the region.
Pilsen area belongs to the oldest self-governing territorial units in the Czech Republic. The foundations of its current borders date back to the Middle Ages.
Basic Information About the Pilsen Regional Authority
One of the organizations in the region is the Regional Authority. The Regional authority executes delegated powers, with the exception of such things which are entrusted to the Assembly or a special organization.
The regional authority carries out assignments of the independent powers set by the regional Assembly and helps with board and commission activities. The functions of the Regional Authority are limited in the act of regions. The regional Authority is represented by the Director and secretariat of the President. The Pilsen Regional Authority is made up of 17 departments.
